Things to Consider When Having an Elevator Built

Things to Consider During the Elevator Planning Phase:
– The zoning and fire regulations of the municipality to which the building is affiliated should be examined.
– The column line diagrams, shaft lighting, feeder panel details and machine room lighting of the elevator should be shown in the electrical installation project.
– The elevator general project should be made by authorized elevator installation companies.
– The purpose of use of the elevator should be explained in detail to the engineer who prepared the general project.
– The architectural dimensions should be checked with the general project.

Things to Consider During Building Construction:
– It is recommended that the well bottom be at least 150 cm.
– The well dimensions should be established in accordance with the architectural project and the general project.
– Accidents should be prevented by placing a barrier at the well opening.
– The well bottom should be water insulated.
– The height of the machine room dome concrete should be at least 370 cm from the ground level of the top stop.
– The ceiling height of the machine room must be at least 200 cm above the dome concrete.
– The height of the machine room and other measurements must definitely be taken into consideration.

 

Things to Consider When Choosing an Elevator Company:
– The elevator company must be certified by a reputable approved organization (DAS) according to the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System,
– The elevator company must have a CE Certificate issued by the Notified Organization (SIQ),
– Their references should be strong, and their authorities and technical service personnel should be easily accessible,
– The contract or agreement should be clear, and should include delivery & warranty periods.
– It would be useful to visit a lift that the lift company has previously built.

Things to Consider During Lift Construction:
– A report should be requested from the lift company regarding works that are not included in the commitment of the lift company.
– Construction-related works should be carried out according to the report.
– Safety systems and other equipment used must have CE certification.
Works of the contractor or the person who will have the elevator built;
– Creation of the elevator shaft and machine room
– Provision of the necessary steel construction for the shaft and single cage partition material in shafts where the elevator is located
– Cleaning the bottom of the shaft, insulation in case of water outflow
– Whitewashing the elevator shaft.
– Cutting the mold and iron pieces.
– Placing scaffolding in the shaft.
– Providing well lighting.
– Drawing 220 V electricity to the bottom of the shaft.
– Building a staircase to descend to the bottom of the shaft.
– Necessary breaking, plastering and covering works before and after the assembly of elevator doors, if necessary, making lintels on the doors.
– Building an iron door of at least 80×200 cm in size opening outwards to the engine room,
– Painting and lighting the engine room,
– Building a staircase to access the engine room deck,
– Surrounding the edge of the machine room deck with a 110 cm high railing,
– Making a vent window for ventilation of the machine room,
– Bringing the energy line to the machine room and connecting it to the panel,
– Strengthening the machine room deck with steel construction in case it is weak,
– Providing a closed and lockable warehouse on the construction site,
– Ensuring the security of the assembly area,
– Expenses to be incurred during obtaining the elevator usage license. (Fees, taxes, author registration, etc.)
– In cases where the elevator space is large, the necessary “U” profile sections should be made,
