Businessman Aykut Baykara, who was injured in his foot when the elevator of his residence in Şişli fell 35 floors, filed a complaint against the company. Elevator technician Emre Ç. said, “I warned the residence management, they did not listen.”
The elevator in a luxury residence in Şişli, Istanbul fell 35 floors down. The businessman in the elevator was injured in his foot. Aykut Baykara (39), the owner of Baykaralar Mermerler Ltd. and ALPARK İnşaat, was living on the 42nd floor of the residence. Baykara wanted to leave the building to attend a meeting the other day and got in the elevator. Shortly after, the elevator started falling rapidly. The elevator parts fell on the businessman due to the impact. The injured Baykara was trapped in the elevator for half an hour. The businessman, who broke the elevator door and got out by his own means, was taken to the hospital. Baykara, who was receiving treatment, had the tendons in his right ankle torn. The young businessman’s foot was damaged and an apparatus was attached to his foot so that he could walk.

‘RESPONSIBLE MANAGEMENT’

The businessman filed a complaint against the elevator company OTIS. Elevator technician Emre Ç., whose statement was taken as part of the ongoing investigation, said, “There were bends in the elevator rails. I conveyed this to the residence management. They did not accept our offer because the budget was not allocated.”

‘LET THEM PUNISH THEM’
Speaking to SABAH, businessman Baykara said, “I still cannot step on my feet. I am also a professional athlete. I could not go back to the building after the incident. This victimization I experienced has not been resolved. Everyone at fault should pay their punishment.”
